Iron Kingdoms RPG source books now available in PDF

Artwork from an upcoming Warmachine book When I first read about this, I thought “Hell, it’s about time!”. The Iron Kingdoms campaign setting is still one of my favorite setting, and it was a shame that most books haven’t been available for quite some time. Since I own all IK RPG books but the Monsternomicon II, I haven’t bought any of the PDFs yet, but I am pretty sure they just removed all references to the d20 System License and released it fully under the OGL.

The books are available from RPGNow and Paizo and are still a bit too expensive for my taste, but at least they are available after all.

I still would like to see a new IK RPG line probably using the Pathfinder RPG, Fantasy Craft or Savage Worlds rules, but it seems Privateer Press is recently focusing on their miniature games, which is really a shame in my opinion. Hmm, I think I should stop moaning and be happy that the IK RPG books are finally available again. Thanks, Privateer Press!

You beat me to the punch – I was about to (& probably still will) post a comment about their availability. I love the IK setting (even if I think D20 is a very poor fit). Unfortunately the prices they're asking for the pdfs is ridiculous IMO.

The setting is great but I think you are right, d20 is a bad fit. Savage Worlds would probably work much better. Or you may be able to pull it off using Fantasy Craft.

And I am pretty sure these PDFs would sell like hot cakes if they would sell the books for approx. 10$ or so.

It's good to see more content like this released as PDF… but damn, that price is ridiculous.

I noticed the Monsternomicon yesterday while I was browsing for Egyptian Cardstock terrain (which I failed to find) and yeah, the prices are ridiculous.

I am glad that they were released though, hopefully this movement means they're gearing up for a new edition. I did hear rumors at GenCon that they plan on make a new IK RPG, but it will be a custom rules set, most likely based off the Warmachine/Hordes wargame rules (which just got a big update to Mk II).

So Warmachine + experience? If it's true wouldn't it be awesome if they went levelless?

Also, considering that a Warmachine Video Game was announced at GenCon, they could plan on releasing the RPG to coincide with the game release…. interesting stuff to ponder.

    Hmm, a custom system compatible with Warmachine? That would be great! But I still have my doubts that they'll resurrect the IK RPG franchise.
