#RPGaDay2024 Day 13 – Zombie

Day 13 of #RPGaDay2024, continuing with the alternative prompt challenge list by Skala Wyzwania. For more information on RPG a Day, see David Chapman’s Autocratik blog post for 2024.

The RPG challenge theme for today is Zombie. Rolling a 1d10 for the quest. The result is 3: Write a bulletin board quest.

Near the town square, in the podium where the lord’s crier reads off official proclamations and announcements by decree, the mayor has set three wooden poles, one painted green for the lord and his offices, one white for the priests and scholars, and one unpainted for the guilds and commonfolk. A new announcement in simple paper is nailed to the unpainted pole. The writing in it simple and unadorned, stamped with the symbol of the Scrivener’s Guild who transcribed it. A simple tombstone and a crude drawing of a bearded man snarling adorn the bottom of the page. It reads:

Retrievers of the dead wanted!

Segador the Butcher has wandered off his grave, and his family wants him procured. Despite all precautions, the beloved husband and father broke the chains of peaceful rest and dug his way out of the family plot in Willowfen Cemetery before the seventh day. The cemetery’s night guard reported the risen dead wandered into the nearby fen. Other unclaimed risen are often found in the area, avoid the area after sundown, as signs of dark spawn in the region have been reported by local hunters. Segador’s family is offering ten silver moons for the return of the body whole and ten copper bits just for the head and heart. Once retrieved, payment may be claimed at the Two-Headed Bull butcher shop in the Eastern Guild Way. May the gods, High and Low, guide your way.

Short and sweet today! I hope you like it. Until tomorrow.
