Here is today’s NPC.
Jacques “Jackie” Poincaré (Fantasy Name Generator used for the name: French name generator)
Born in Guadeloupe, Jackie moved to New York seeking a better life. However, his mixed heritage, heavy accent, and a run-in with the law left him with few options, eventually pushing him into less-than-reputable work as a bartender at a speakeasy. He soon fell in love with a flapper. When his bosses discovered their secret affair, they quickly used the relationship to blackmail her father.
When the girl’s father attempted to bring the blackmailers to justice, the underworld boss had the man and his entire family killed. The tragedy put a dangerous strain on Jackie’s standing with his employers. To survive, he assured them the woman was merely a fling, that she meant nothing to him, and that his true loyalty remained with the organization.
The grief and guilt nearly broke Jackie, yet he refused to let the mob win. He became more determined than ever to find justice for the woman he loved. Knowing he was just an immigrant with a criminal record and no real power in the big city, he devised a different plan.
He decided to become an informant for the gumshoes and mystery men trying to clean up the city—the very people actively confronting his bosses. Today, Jackie walks a dangerous tightrope. Having regained the syndicate’s confidence, he keeps a close eye on the criminal elements that pass through his bar, secretly feeding their actions and plans to his new associates. He does whatever he can to ensure the men who murdered his love will eventually pay. One day, he hopes to be free of this heavy burden, but he still has far to go.
